Parris Gill Sr. is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Gary, Indiana. He works across several mediums, including mixed media, sculpture, and large-scale mural art. Parris holds an Associate’s degree in Media Arts from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Indiana University Northwest. His work is grounded in both personal experience and the broader Black American cultural narrative.
With six murals currently on display throughout Gary, Parris focuses on themes of community, identity, and storytelling. His public art creates space for reflection and connection, often highlighting voices that aren’t always seen or heard.
A central figure in much of his work is “Marcus the Mime,” a character Parris created to express silent emotions and untold stories. Through Marcus, he invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage more deeply with the world around them.
